Abstract: Objective To explore clinical efficacy of live combined bacillus subtilis and enterococcus faecium enteric-coated capsules combined with lactulose oral solution on treatment for patients with hepatic encephalopathy. Methods Total of 160 cases with hepatic encephalopathy were randomly divided into treatment group (84 cases) and control group (76 cases). Patients in treatment group were given live combined bacillus subtilis and enterococcus faecium enteric-coated capsules combined with lactulose oral solution; patients in control group were given sodium glutamate, potassium glutamate intravenously. Patients in both groups were treated for 14 days. The clinical symptoms and blood ammonia levels of patients before and after treatment were analyzed. Results Total effective rate of treatment group was 83.3%, with the improvement of symptoms and reduce of blood ammonia better than control group (P = 0.044, 0.038). Conclusions Live combined bacillus subtilis and enterococcus faecium enteric-coated capsules combined with lactulose oral solution has a positive curative effect on patients with hepatic encephalopathy.
