Abstract: Objective To explore the depression state and the influence factors of rural patients with
chronic hepatitis B and to put forward the countermeasures to the influence factors. Methods Self-rating
Depression Scale (SDS), Social Support Rating Scale (SSRS), disease related stress questionnaire and the
degree of understanding the disease knowledge questionnaire were used to survey 208 rural patients from
October 2014 to December 2014 in three second-class hospitals in Qingdao. Results About 87.5% rural
CHB patients were with depressive emotion, the depression index (SDS) was higher than the national
norm (t = 19.045, P = 0.000). The depression indexes of gender, age, education, per capita income,
history of hepatitis, times of hospitalization, economic pressure, length of anti hepatitis B virus, social
support, degree of understanding the disease knowledge and disease related pressure of rural patients were
statistically significant (P < 0.05). Conclusion The main factors affecting the depression of rural patients
with CHB are gender, age, education, length of anti hepatitis B virus and disease related stress。
